Ken Griffey, Jr.: A Hall of Fame Tribute

To celebrate Ken Griffey, Jr.'s induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016, Nike decided to bring back one of the most memorable sneakers from the MLB legend by reintroducing the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Freshwater (2016).

A Classic Returns

This retro edition of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 closely resembled its original design, maintaining the classic color scheme. The shoe's upper featured a primary color palette of black and Freshwater, with striking white accents on the Swoosh and midsole for added contrast. It was also distinguished by its iconic front strap adorned with Griffey’s jersey number, 24.

Over the years, the Nike x Griffey collaboration has seen numerous colorway variations. Nonetheless, in our view, this particular release remains among the most outstanding, taking inspiration from Griffey's original team, the Seattle Mariners.
