The Nike Air Bakin first hit the hardwood as Tim Hardaway's choice in 1997. However, its distribution was paused following concerns from the Muslim community, who felt the logo resembled 'Allah' in Arabic script.

In May 2014, it re-emerged as the Nike Air Bakin 'Turbo Green,' showcasing a new emblem yet preserving the original's two-tone leather and synthetic construction, along with contrasting details. The extended sole in the kids' edition is crafted around the Max Air unit and equipped with herringbone-pattern grip.
